Realistic maths education

In partnership with Manchester Metropolitan University, Fosse Way School is currently trialling an approach called Realistic Maths Education – a two-year project / training programme aimed at improving reasoning and classroom talk in mainstream year 7 / 8. It is currently being trialled at Fosse Way with a year 10 group with a view to it becoming the core of the year 9 curriculum at Fosse Way.

As a special school we will not contribute to the national data as it is a randomised control trial, but are participating fully in the training and we will provide a report as to its effectiveness in a SEND setting at the end of the two-year project.
